Bio
Since her bachelors, Marcela has had an interest in how the human eye works and the physics involved in it, and in combining her passion for photography with the recent advances in computational photography and camera design, so, she became interested in research on a range of topics in Computer Vision, some of which are using Artificial Intelligence. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Engineering Physics and worked mostly with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) at Universidad del Cauca (Colombia) and later got a Master’s in Mathematics from West Virginia University, with an emphasis on Interdisciplinary Mathematics, working with UAVs on mapping. Marcela is working towards her Ph.D. degree in Computer Science with a focus on compression of image-based 3D reconstructions, and on learning methods for interest point detection, matching, and pose estimation. In her free time when she’s not through a lens, she can be found baking or reading.
